Hard to believe that we just started fall and when fall hits, I always get into a baking mood! Today I wanted to share with all of my foodie blog readers the recipe that I used when I make homemade ginger snaps cookies. We love this recipe and I think you will enjoy it too!
Homemade Ginger Snaps Cookies Recipe
3/4 cup shortening, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 large egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix together the melted shortening, after cooling shortening for 1 minute, mix in the granulated sugar, molasses and the large egg. Stir in the flour, baking soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Cover bowl & place into the refrigerator and chill for 1 full hour.
Remove from refrigerator and let stand at room temperature for 5 minutes. Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts. Roll the balls into granulated sugar. Place the balls onto a well-greased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 7 to 8 minutes. Remove immediately and do NOT over bake. Let cool.
